A smaller, stronger rim takes a proper motorcycle tyre, which is where the grip and the high-speed stability come from, and the whole assembly is built to survive the torque a 72V system delivers rather than merely to carry a rider.Dropping to 17 inches changes the geometry of the bike, so this is a decision to make while you are planning the build, not a part to bolt onto a finished one.
